The Pegasus Showroom is small, but the talent is big. Kelly Clinton-Holmes and Elisa Fiorillo deliver a delightful show filled with music, songs, laughter, energy, Vegas pizzazz and of course the mandatory wardrobe changes.
The 75 seat showroom at the Alexis Park All-Suites Hotel provides a charming intimate backdrop for the talent of these women. The two more than fill the small stage with their individual and duo numbers. They begin sparkling in their Vegas-style garb with songs including “Thank You for Being a Friend” and “I’m a Woman”.
I’ve always been a fan of Kelly’s. You know that she loves what she does. Kelly Clinton-Holmes has been a vibrant part of the Las Vegas entertainment scene for more than 25 years. But there’s so much more that her local fans don’t even know about her. She was a winner on ABC’s “America’s Funniest People.” She has worked with Wayne Newton and Engelbert Humperdinck, with whom Kelly shared the stage in Las Vegas and all over the country.
Her theater credits include Sister Mary Amnesia in the hit show “Nunsense” and her own one-woman show. She has performed the show to critical acclaim in Las Vegas and at both the popular Metropolitan Room and the venerable Cafe’ Carlyle in New York City. She was also host of the long-running “Talktails” show on the Vegas Video Network. In 2011 and 2012 Broadwayworld.com nominated her as “Best Comedic Actress”.Here, she gives us all of it. Her singing, her comedy, her schtick.
Elisa is another Vegas talent and a perfect partner for their twosomes. They each bring personality and poise to their individual performances. Fiorillo was born into a musical family. At fifteen, she won the 1985 Star Search talent show. In 1987, she was signed to Chrysalis Records. Her second album I Am included “On The Way Up”, which was a Top 30 hit in the U.S. and Top 20 in Australia..In 2010 she embarked on a world tour with Prince, She worked with him until his death in 2016.
She turned to her musical direction towards jazz in the 2000’s. She partnered with Nashville-based guitarist Tyler Reese in 2013 to form an independent musical duo called The Dease & Reese Project. As well as singing, she has also directed a few TV series.
These lovely ladies are backed by the talents of Michael Clark on keyboard, David Ramirez on drums, and the highly talented and versatile Dennis Blair on the guitar. But wait, there’s more! – Blair, one of my favorite performers, moves from playing guitar to showcasing his singing and comedic talent in “I’m Thinking Of Being A Catholic Again.” You can’t beat the three of them together when Dennis is pressed into service to be the third Andrews Sister in their rendition of “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B”. It is an audience pleaser for sure.
You want humor? Check out Elisa’s “Bun in the Oven” and Kelly’s unique take on Elvis. Then, they amuse us with their special comedic take on Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand’s rendition of “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers Anymore.” Each of the women shine individually and together. Elisa’s rendition of “Arms of An Angel” is a showstopper and Kelly’s “Boots are Made For Walking” is a delight. The show, The First Ladies of Las Vegas Entertainment, is a perfect blend of pop, jazz, comedy, standards, and delightful comedy runs Friday nights at 7 p.m. in the Pegasus Room at the Alexis Park All Suites Hotel.
