Sirius XM Radio Star of “Seth’s Big Fat Broadway,” Seth Rudetsky arrived in Chicago to host two stellar concert series with leading Broadway stars last week. Held at the Studebaker Theatre in the historic Fine Arts Building, he brought the best of Broadway to the Second City along with his co-star and two-time Tony award-winner, Norbert Leo Butz.
The show was a combination of an up close and personal concert mixed with intimate behind-the-scenes stories. Rudetsky was in his element as he asked funny, insightful, and revealing questions to Butz, who went on to perform songs from his stellar Broadway career.
On Monday night, he hosted Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award winner Lillias White who starred in “CATS,” “DreamGirls,” “Funny Girl<” and other Broadway shows.
These unique concerts were filled with hysterical, behind-the scenes stories peppered with Rudetsky’s encyclopedic knowledge of Broadway. He truly is the mayor of Broadway!
As someone who listens to Rudetsky on his Surius XM Radio Show all the time, I had to see him live and in person. He was his authentic self and his magnificent piano accompaniment added much to Butz’s performance. Butz sang songs from “Rent,” “Big Fish,” Elton John, “Defying Gravity” and “Something’s Coming” from West Side Story.
Seth’s Broadway Concert Series is never entirely pre-planned, leaving room for plenty of surprises! Even Norbert didn’t know what was coming next. It was an evening of exclusive insights about some of the industry’s most beloved performers.
